Stempra newsletter - Autumn 2008
From the Chair
Thank goodness the Large Hadron Collider didn't create a black hole and
swallow the planet back in September, else you wouldn't be here to read
the latest instalment of Stempra newsletter. Mind you, there's still
the Christmas party and a conversation with Ben Goldacre to get through
before the next one. Tough love, Stempra. Tough love.

Celebrity PR - Handbags and test tubes
Ladies with an attitude, fellas that were in the mood. Don't just stand
there, let's get to it, strike a pose, there's nothing to it. Celebrity
supporters equals free publicity says Julian Beynon, Breast Cancer
Campaign's Celebrity Development Manager. So let's get Jade Goody on
board right now! No? Carole Caplin then?
WCSJ2009 - Stories that matter to a changing world

How to make the most of the 'Silly Season'
If you missed Stempra's silly season event then it's probably because
you were on holiday with David Cameron in Cornwall, and you should be
ashamed of yourself. But just so you know what your communications
strategy should be next summer, we have reported what happened right
here.
Are press conferences old news?
Stempra's first event in Scotland was better attended than some press conferences I've been to. But maybe that's saying something about the quality of the press conferences I get to go to. What makes it a hit or a miss? Should we still be doing them? Now over to Tara Womersley with the roundup of the regional news...
Interview:
Jane Gizbert - Director of Communications at National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence
Following seven years of service at the Medical Research Council, Jane
Gizbert took up the position of Director of Comms at NICE in September.
Stempra newsletter caught up with her to find out just exactly now nice is NICE. And if NICE isn't nice, then why do they call it NICE? Because that wouldn't be, well, nice at all.
