Science in the News

In August Stempra ran the first “Science in the news” event. This series of informal events aims to give voice to Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine press officers and some of their experiences dealing with the news media on big controversial stories. The first event focussed on climate change in the media and we were delighted to have Bob Ward, Head of communications from the Royal Society as our first speaker. Bob gave a passionate speech on how he thinks scientists have influenced the way the media deals with climate change and the challenges ahead. A lively debate followed with a good turnout of press officers from a wide variety of institutions and organisations.

Stempra will be running another informal event on science in the news this time on Radiation and health scares- on Monday 27th November – 615-7.15.
