Social media: How to get your message across


Whether you are a tweeter, facebooker or have still to make the leap into new media, come along to an event held by Stempra in Scotland on how to use social media successfully.

Speakers include Marjory Wood, of the British Heart Foundation, which has used social media effectively in fundraising initiatives such as its "Mending Broken Hearts Campaign" and Jenifer Stirton, director of marketing and communications for the Students Loan Company, which uses new media as an integral part of keeping more than 1 million students informed about loans and grants.  Nicola Osborne, social media officer for EDINA, a UK national academic data centre delivering online data services to students and staff in Higher and Further Education, will talk about using social media to promote and engage the community in academic projects and services as well as how it can be used to promote science.

The Genomics Forum is situated off the Royal Mile at Canongate.
